My very first classroom experience
I want to discuss about my first job as a teacher. I was doing internships for my B.Ed. I had to instruct secondary courses in social studies and English. I had no prior classroom teaching experience. I was thus somewhat concerned. A rather intensive week-long micro teaching training programmed was offered by my college. I diligently attended every workshop, took notes, and read and reread the teacher training material. However, I still felt unprepared. In retrospect, I realise that my lack of confidence was relatively normal, but at the time, I was really frightened to speak to my pupils. The scheduled time eventually arrived, and I was forced to continue. I gave a little introduction of myself, invited each person to say a few words about themselves, and then we went to work. I didn't have to do anything because it was a worksheet session, thank goodness. The pupils were ready when class began. It went well on the first day.
